Be clear:  While you aren’t judged on the design of your entry, something that is well-presented and well-laid out will be easier for the judges to extract the relevant information from. Clear and simple should be your watchwords.

Provide evidence:  All online entries, must have additional information uploaded via the websitePlease do not send information in via post.  Answer all the questions relating to the category you have chosen in your submission. Please provide evidence of success to support your answers – include financial, operational, customer or senior management testimonials if necessary – then you need to show it clearly. The judges need to see the hard facts that back up your claims.  All online entries that do not have the additional supporting evidence will unfortunately be disqualified from the judging process

All uploaded information must be in PDF or Word format.  No more than 5 documents of single page information.  This could include a one-page brief career history, some photographic evidence, testimonials and information relevant to your category.

Be concise:  Answer all the questions from your category chosen. Remember that the judges will have to read through a large number of entries in a limited period of time. Therefore, while encyclopaedia-thick entries are very worthy, it’s unlikely they will get the attention they deserve.

Be current:  Don't be tempted to dwell too much on the past, devoting a large chunk of your entry to explaining over a 100 years experience of history will not help you win.  Concentrate on past year achievements.

Above and beyond:  Remember the Awards reward excellence across the categories – it means going above and beyond the call of duty. You need to demonstrate – with evidence - that you have done this.

Size isn’t important:  Judges take into account the relative size of each Hotel involved across all categories - from the small independent to the large group and make their decision on the basis of the evidence in front of them. Smaller hotels succeeded in several categories in 2007 and 2008.

Never assume:  While the judges all have relevant experience, they won’t necessarily know the intricacies of your operation or sector. If it’s relevant to your entry, then describe the particular challenges you face.
